Wine Tasting (Pre-Conference)

Lavaux Vineyards Unesco World Heritage Site

Join us for an unforgettable excursion to the Unesco World Heritage Site of Lavaux Vineyards. A bus will take us from the conference hotels on incredibly scenic trip through the vineyards to the town of Epesses. Here, we will have the chance to taste the typical wine (Chasselas and other local specialties), carefully selected by our host, Patrick Fonjallaz. The wine tasting will take place in the garden of the residence of Mr. Fonjallaz, with stunning views on the Swiss and French Alps (yes, like in the picture below!). After a short stroll through the vineyards, we will return by bus to EPFL, just in time for the welcome reception.

Lavaux

Au Clos de la République

The Fonjallaz family has been rooted in the village of Epesses since 1552, and our host Mr. Patrick Fonjallaz is the 13th generation winemaker in direct line pursing the family tradition related to the noble work of the vineyards and wine. The estate does not only boast the most stunning views on Lake Léman and the Alps, but also hosts century old oak barrels in the caves. Even Charlie Chaplin visited this vineyard as you will recognize on the photographs at the estate! For more information on the vineyard and estate, visit Au Clos de la République.
